Ways to get involved in Australia

Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.

Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Australia

Australia is the outlier on cost, but alumni still choose it because the conservation work is hard to match. Placements focus on marine and environmental conservation, often in partnership with research teams doing reef and coastline monitoring. It's a short window, usually two to three weeks, which keeps it within reach of a partial award. English-speaking, well organized, and safe, so it's a common pick for alumni who want a first international trip without a language barrier or a long time commitment.

  • Marine and reef conservation work
  • Short two to three week placements
  • No language barrier for first-time travelers

Placements run through Intern Abroad HQ and International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award

Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.

Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Australia numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
