Belize is small and specific. Volunteer placements are based on a remote island near Placencia, where the work is reef survey diving and lionfish removal, and internships run inland from San Ignacio in veterinary care, medicine, and social work. English is the official language, so you are useful on day one. Island living is basic and the boat schedule sets your day, which suits some alumni and frustrates others. Stays run one to eight weeks. Diving placements are the more expensive end of what we list, so an award tends to cover the program fee and leave you covering flights.
Placements run through Intern Abroad HQ and International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
