Brazil
Rio placements in teaching and community sport.
Ways to get involved in Brazil
Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.
Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Brazil
Brazil is a smaller slate of placements, but a distinctive one. Rio de Janeiro work centers on English teaching and community sport programs in neighborhoods where those programs are a genuine pathway for young people. Portuguese is the working language and you'll pick up more of it than you expect. Alumni who coached, ran after-school programs, or worked in youth development will find the closest match. Stays run from two weeks up to several months, so it fits either a short trip or a longer award-funded stretch.
- English teaching and community sport in Rio
- Portuguese language immersion
- Good match for youth development backgrounds
Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Brazil numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
