China
Educate youth in Guangxi or protect sea turtles in Huidong.
Ways to get involved in China
Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.
Why AmeriCorps alumni choose China
China splits cleanly into two options. In the Guangxi villages you support English classes in rural schools, and in Huidong you work at a sea turtle rescue center on the coast. Both are hosted programs with dorm housing and a coordinator on site, which helps because this is one of the harder places to arrive cold. Mandarin lessons are usually available and worth taking even for a short stay. Placements run one to twelve weeks. Costs sit in the middle of our range, so a full award can fund a three month stay with travel left over.
- Rural school placements in Guangxi villages
- Sea turtle care at the Huidong rescue center
- Stays ranging from one week to three months
Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current China numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
