Why AmeriCorps alumni choose India
India rewards alumni who want to be pushed. Kerala is the most common base, with teaching, childcare, healthcare support, and women's empowerment placements in communities where volunteers have been part of the work for a long time. The scale of everything is different: the language, the food, the transport, the density. Most alumni describe it as the trip that recalibrated how they think about their own service. Placements run from a week to several months, and the weekly cost is low enough that a partial award can fund a substantial stay.

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
