Ways to get involved in Laos
Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.
Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Laos
Luang Prabang is a small, walkable UNESCO town, and the placements match that scale: English practice with students in monasteries and primary schools, or construction work renovating rural classrooms and medical centers. The pace is slow in a way that suits people coming off an intense service year. Weekly costs are among the lowest anywhere on this site, so a full award can cover a multi month stay including housing. Placements run one to twelve weeks. Expect basic facilities and a lot of walking.
- Teaching opportunities in local monasteries and village schools
- Construction projects to renovate medical centers and classrooms
- Service based in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Luang Prabang
Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Laos numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
