Ways to get involved in Mexico

Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.

Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Mexico

Mexico's placements are on the Oaxaca coast, in La Ventanilla and San José Manialtepec. Conservation work covers sea turtles, crocodiles, and deer, and there are also teaching and community development roles in nearby villages. You stay in a homestay or volunteer housing. Basic Spanish makes a real difference here since the placement communities are small and Spanish is the working language. Stays run one to twelve weeks, and because weekly costs are low, an award can fund a multi month stay with flights included.

  • Conservation projects focused on sea turtles, crocodiles, and deer
  • English teaching and village support in rural communities
  • Flexible durations ranging from one week to three months

Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award

Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.

Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Mexico numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
