Ways to get involved in Namibia

Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.

Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Namibia

Namibia is physically demanding and honest about it. Expect six or seven hours a day of hands-on work: caring for rehabilitating leopards, caracals, and other rescued wildlife at a highlands sanctuary, or clean-ups and Cape fur seal monitoring near Long Beach by Swakopmund. You sleep in semi-permanent tents at the sanctuary. English is used throughout the program. Stays run two to twelve weeks. Alumni from conservation corps and disaster response backgrounds tend to be the happiest here, and an award covers a short or mid length placement in full.

  • Reside in semi-permanent tents at a wildlife sanctuary
  • Monitor Cape fur seals and remove coastal waste
  • Rehabilitate injured lions, cheetahs, and baboons

Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award

Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.

Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Namibia numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
