Ways to get involved in Nepal
Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.
Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Nepal
Nepal spreads across Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan, so the placement depends on where you land: classroom teaching in the city, sustainable agriculture and construction in villages near Pokhara, or elephant care in Chitwan. You live with a host family with breakfast and dinner included, and that is where most of the cultural learning happens. Stays run one to twelve weeks. Weekly costs are low, so an award can cover a three month stay outright, and many alumni combine a placement with trekking before or after their dates.
- Placements available in Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara
- Projects in agriculture, education, and animal care
- Homestay living with breakfast and dinner provided
Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) and Intern Abroad HQ.

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Nepal numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
