Ways to get involved in Sri Lanka
Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.
Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka asks you to trade infrastructure for access. Placements are in Kandy, Hikkaduwa, Ambalangoda, and Randeniya, with three to seven hours of work a day in preschools, women's centers, teaching hospitals and special needs units, turtle hatcheries, an elephant sanctuary, or construction restoring temples and schools. Living is simple and the days are hot. Stays run two to twelve weeks. Weekly costs are low, so an award covers a quick trip outright or funds a twelve week stay with room left for travel around the island.
- Work with elephants in the Randeniya wildlife sanctuary
- Support turtle conservation in coastal Ambalangoda
- Assist in Kandy teaching hospitals and special needs units
Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Sri Lanka numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
