Ways to get involved in Zambia
Here's what our partners are running right now. Pick a placement that looks like a fit and we'll send the current dates and costs.
Why AmeriCorps alumni choose Zambia
Zambia's placements are around Livingstone, near Victoria Falls, and the housing is basic shared accommodation with meals included. The work is kindergarten and school support at community schools that teach students who cannot afford fees, elderly care, medical clinic support, and school renovation with local builders. English is widely used. Stays run one to sixteen weeks. Costs are low enough that a single award can fund the fees for the full sixteen weeks, which is why alumni who want a long placement often end up here.
- Placements based in the traveler hub of Livingstone
- Rural teaching projects for primary aged students
- Construction work at community centers and schools
Placements run through International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ).

If you're using your Segal Education Award
Award funds have to go to a Title IV school, so your placement needs to carry academic credit. That required academic credit and enrollment fee starts at $999 and is on top of the program fees above. We'll walk you through it.
Fees change through the year. Ask us for the current Zambia numbers and we'll confirm them with the partner before you apply.
